Season's Greetings,

This year the Naugatuck Valley Project has continued the work of finding solutions to problems which impact folks across the Valley. NVP has been organizing for the ability of elders to age in their homes

Current Campaign

We are doing this through our Aging with Dignity Campaign, working to reduce elder isolation through a volunteer visitation program in parishes, and gain better home healthcare through better home healthcare jobs. These workers commonly face wage theft and harassment. On December 3rd, we convened a Solidarity Gathering that brought together domestic workers, clergy, and community members. The purpose of the meeting was to find ways to improve the working conditions of domestic workers. Our team is studying ways to make the Connecticut Domestic Workers Bill of Rights one that supports the needs of workers and employers. Please join our campaign - contact Bonnie Odiorne, Chair of the NVP Aging with Dignity Campaign, or NVP Organizer Brandon Hicks.

Details of Upcoming Events

NVP Strengthening Interfaith Solidarity - On January 18, 2017 are partnering with the United Muslim Mosque, Inc., to host a community gathering. The event will begin at 6:30 pm at St. John's Episcopal Church (Waterbury). Many Muslims across the state and nation have experienced discrimination and isolation. The aim of our gathering is to show support to our neighbors. We strongly believe that we are our brother's keepers and that we have a responsibility to help create a more tolerant community. This event will be an interfaith event and all community members are encouraged to attend. Please join us!

NVP Annual Convention - Our Annual Convention will be held on January 24, 2017. We will meet at St. John's Episcopal Church (Waterbury) at 6:00 pm. We will vote for our new leadership team and give updates on our current campaigns. Please come and invite other community members to this event.
