We Organize, Struggle, and WIN!

On September 21, 2016, The Naugatuck Valley Project helped home care companions receive parking passes in downtown Waterbury. For years, home care companions, who care for elderly patients, had no place to park downtown. NVP partnered with local congregations and clergy to petition the city for parking passes for these workers. Prior to winning these parking passes, home care companions had to leave their patients and feed parking meters. This was especially difficult during the cold winter months. The availability of parking passes, for the homecare workers in downtown Waterbury, helps to improve the care of the elderly and the working conditions for home care companions. This victory was possible because of the continued support of the Connecticut Community Foundation's Pathways Program.
